Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world shared condolences for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
