Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to express about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, remarking that he could not remember "any day without laughter".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a distinct essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A legal directive placed a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a record citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
After the killings, public figures offered divergent comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing controversial claims that were broadly criticized by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the those speaking out recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and suggested they showed a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide could have acted when the decision to speak on the death was made.
